Fried Dough

Another childhood addiction... Frozen bread dough, thawed and risen, then fried in oil. I like mine with salt, but sugar and cinnamon is the way of some folks. Thanks, Dad!

  1. Jason's family makes fried dough on Christmas Eve and serves it with a variety of sliced meats & cheeses. The first time I witnessed this, back when we were dating, I was like, "We're going to put WHAT on those elephant ears?" (Nicole, obviously, is not from an Italian family!)

  2. My dad made this pretty regularly, but this is my first time doing it. We always liked ours "savory" - with salt. I don't like sugar on mine. I went to Indiana Beach as an adult, and it took me about 9 minutes to get a piece of fried dough without any sugar ("You don't want extra sugar? What... NO sugar? You mean extra, right? You mean, NONE??") Then it took me about 13 minutes to find a packet of salt, elsewhere.
